Unsolicited commentary and thoughts

I was struck by a cold earlier this week. Even took a day off to recover, mostly because I’ve got a wedding to go to on Saturday and really don’t want to miss it. Aside from the sore throat and eating nothing but soup, it was quite enjoyable just lounging at home watching Veronica Mars and playing Grand Theft Auto 4. Veronica Mars is quite amazing, by the way. Stop watching crappy Heroes and watch Veronica Mars already.

I finally finished book 2 of Harry Potter. I got sidetracked as I read Don DeLillo’s White Noise, which I had heard good things about but felt like I was too late in reading it, as the book came out in 1985 and deals with issues of society being overtaken by brands and mindless following. At least Potter was good! It probably helped that I hadn’t seen the second movie yet, so everything was new to me, but I’ve still got issues with J.K. Rowling’s use of Deus Ex Machina.

Here’s a fun link about stuff you can sneak through airport security and how much of a joke it all is.
