I watched my high school friends get married on Saturday, and for some reason it never connected in me that these two were actually getting married and would be husband and wife until I saw them standing at the altar in front of the priest. Congrats to Patrick and Linh, and thanks for the great wedding and reception. It was fun seeing people from high school again and getting drunk together and watching morons fall on the dance floor.
Well that’s kind of sad. I was gonna write about my gripes with J.K. Rowling’s use of Deus Ex Machina only to see I had talked about it in my last entry. Well I’m gonna go off on it more cause it’s been bugging me. This is a spoiler for anyone who hasn’t seen the second movie or read the second book, but I figure if you haven’t by now you don’t care to. The book ends with a snake about to attack Harry Potter, when out of nowhere this phoenix flies in, drops the sorting hat, and out of the sorting hat Harry Potter pulls a sword that has never been mentioned in the book before. C’mon Rowling, you gotta be kidding me.
And speaking of bad writing, I am committing myself to NaNoWriMo this year, as well as NaBloPoMo. I tried NaNoWriMo quite a while back and failed within days. Seriously, I think I wrote 500 words of the required 50,000. I’m hoping I’ll have better discipline this year. It’ll probably just be a lot of crap I write, which is fine with me. If I can use 10% of the 50,000 words I’ll be writing I’ll be very happy.
Of course this means I’m gonna try to beat GTA 4 and finish season one of Veronica Mars before October is over. Things to do!
