I’ve been noticing a trend lately, that I can’t think of a better term for other than “Hipsters in the Woods.” Observe if you will exhibits a through d.
- Lisa Mitchell – Neopolitan Dreams
- Jenn Grant – Dreamer
- Florence and the Machine – Dog Days
- Au Revoir Simone – Fallen Snow
The “Dog Days” and “Fallen Snow” videos are a bit off from the other two, but they all have the same elements: The woods (obviously), vintage clothing (typically dresses/skirts or suits/vests), and items that aren’t usually found in the woods (lanterns, a bed, an armoir). A penchant for hand-crafted goods, polaroids, and single speed bikes also make an appearance, but these trend towards the whole hipster lifestyle and hence led me to the term “Hipsters in the Woods.”
I know I’ve seen other videos that are similar to these, but I can’t remember all of them. Anyone run across any others that are similar? And is there an actual term for this trend?
