Item No. 117

Written on Thursday, May 21, 2009

Five minutes into playing “Bully” on my Xbox 360 last night, the screen turned to a nice magenta color. I waited. Then I pushed the buttons on the controller still in my hands, to no effect. Then I turned off the console and turned it back on, and voila, the red ring of death!

I have been waiting for this moment since I first got my 360 last year. It’s a known defect, yet Microsoft won’t recall all of them, so rather they wait for it to happen and then do a free replacement. PDF Designer Jorge Fino points out, “How can you own a product and wait for something like that to happen?” A very good point. At least I know they’ll fix it for free though, and hopefully get back a machine that won’t have the problem occur again.

About

Eric Lim works as a front-end developer, although he prefers the term "CSS Ninja." But, he also holds a degree in computer science, thus making him a scientist, so "HTML Scientist" may be a better term.

In his spare time he surfs the internets, pirates music and movies, pets strange kitties, and makes a big mess when he eats. He also tends to say things that make no sense because he doesn't really listen to himself when he talks.

He currently resides in Costa Mesa, California and spends his time squandering his potential.
