Five minutes into playing “Bully” on my Xbox 360 last night, the screen turned to a nice magenta color. I waited. Then I pushed the buttons on the controller still in my hands, to no effect. Then I turned off the console and turned it back on, and voila, the red ring of death! I have been waiting for this moment since I first got my 360 last year. It’s a known defect, yet Microsoft won’t recall all of them, so rather they wait for it to happen and then do a free replacement. PDF Designer Jorge Fino points out, “How can you own a product and wait for something like that to happen?” A very good point. At least I know they’ll fix it for free though, and hopefully get back a machine that won’t have the problem occur again.
