Item No. 118

I’ve been on a fitness kick lately. Someone online equated it to leveling up your character in an RPG, except the character is you and the results are real. Although in this case I can’t make myself an attractive female. Or can I?

I bought a jump rope last Friday to use for cardio exercise. I forget how I even came across the idea of doing jump rope, but the main benefits I saw were that it should be easy (I did it as a kid. Come on.), didn’t require me to actually travel anywhere (”Run for fun, what the hell kind of fun is that?”), and I could do it in my apartment (ground floor).

My first attempt to jump rope was horrible. Hell, my second and third attempts were pretty bad too. So far I haven’t been able to do more than 30 consecutive jumps without messing up. I also get really winded and start sweating after a few minutes of jumping, yet I’m supposed to do this for twenty minutes for a complete workout?

I’ll keep at it and build up my endurance and stamina. It’s probably a good sign that I’m more exhausted after three minutes of jump rope than I am after 20 minutes of running. I guess that could be seen as a sign of how out of shape I am too.

About

Eric Lim works as a front-end developer, although he prefers the term "CSS Ninja." But, he also holds a degree in computer science, thus making him a scientist, so "HTML Scientist" may be a better term.

In his spare time he surfs the internets, pirates music and movies, pets strange kitties, and makes a big mess when he eats. He also tends to say things that make no sense because he doesn't really listen to himself when he talks.

He currently resides in Costa Mesa, California and spends his time squandering his potential.
